I just read an article by Celeste Stewart, titled "Windshield Replacement Could Cause Passenger Side Airbag Failure", 5/23/2006.

While I've known about the results of an airbag blowing out a windshield, Celeste points out the fact of facial injuries from the passenger striking a dash with an open spot where the airbag had been. As I see it that could mean a face that could be scarred for life.

Of course by repairing windshield chips and maintaining the factory seal it eliminates this hazard.
