When getting your car or truck ready for winter, you should be aware of how extremely poisonous both windshield washer fluid and anti-freeze are.
The key ingredient in windshield washer fluid is Methanol, as little as 2 table spoons can kill a child if they drink it. As little as 2 ounces can kill an adult.
The biggest problem is that the windshield washer fluid comes in colors like blue, pink, orange, green, purple, and yellow, just like fruit or sport drinks. If left where a child can get to it the results could be deadly, if they think it's their favorite drink. Keep these products locked up and away from children, further store it only in what it came in. Don't put it in cups or anything that it can be confused for a refreshment.
Finally give our furry friends a break. If you change your anti-freeze, keep it away from dogs and cats, they are attracted to it. This includes anti-freeze that has been mixed with water, new or old. What is a sweet drink for them, will insure them of a long painful death. Call local authorities for proper ways to dispose of the waste anti-freeze.
