With today’s vehicle getting a chip on the edge of the windshield it can many times be seen. This is due to the new design of autos and trucks not having any trim around the windshield. This damage can’t be seen from inside the auto or truck as the chip is in the black area (frit) around the edge of the windshield and can only seen from outside.

While Glass Aid can and has repaired many windshield chips in the black area (frit) damage on the edge a lot of times can’t be repaired. In the case of the windshield damage on this Toyota Highlander shown below a crack extended some distance both towards the top and bottom. The damage couldn’t be seen from inside.

While this particular windshield couldn’t be repaired, many a cracked windshield could have been saved had the auto or truck owner taken the time to check their windshield, and gotten a repair on a chip that was in the black area of the windshield.

Getting fuel is a great time to inspect your windshield for chips and small cracks. Make it a habit of doing this like checking your oil, along with taking a look under the hood.
